From the Editor, and Paul's Smile
by: Susan W. Smith
Canadian Thanksgiving and the Editor is writing this from Sagastaweka Island, on October 10. It is a time when families get together and have the annual toast – what are you thankful for. Sun, the call of geese, and bacon for breakfast. Perfect, if you ask me.
This month we received several written comments from readers and they are all appreciated, but one stood out.
“Thank you for your wonderful article! Ever since we bought a boat and then a camp, I've never felt so good and well. It’s as if we were transported to place called heaven. Even our pet cat used to perk up when we got off Interstate 81 to the Thousand Islands. The beautiful scenery, colors, and ever changing skyline were so special. Your heart sings!
Because of Covid, my husband chose to sell it, as he was getting up in age. I thought it was the perfect place to be safe when this happened, as we were in the open air and not in a crowded city. It was a BIG MISTAKE to sell our camp. Ever since, I've been scouring the real estate sections and web sites. No luck – the prices have risen out of our budget now. If you have a place, please don't sell it; hang on to it – as future generations will really appreciate it. It was hard enough to find our camp in the first place, as in the early 90’s families did hang on to their places for generations. A solution would be to get back up there for a short period to boost your serotonin level when times get tough. God Bless AMERICA. Respectfully, Mary Politis.”
Mary, we thank you for your sentiments as I am sure they will be pertinent for many of us. Keep looking and do come back often.

Paul's Smile
Paul we (ladies etc.) have all been there, done that and sure enough, we can't wait for spring 2027 to start all over again! (I prefer to do it myself and say at the end if lucky - How does she do it!)

Lots to do! Family Events, Music and Plays, and most important VOTING!
