The journal is an annual publication of poetry composed by full-time, part-time, and maybe just some-of-the-time, residents of the Thousand Islands region, on both sides of the border. Our mission is to provide a forum for local poets to express themselves, to expand their artistic horizons, and to be heard.
There are no themes, all submissions will be reviewed. Please see the guidelines flyer for more information on how to submit. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
Guidelines for submitting:
*Poems must be under 50 lines or 400 words, whichever comes first.
*Poems must be the original work of the person submitting.

By Heidi Liscomb
Heidi Liscomb is a fifth-generation summer River resident who completed her first novel, Mallorytown Run, in 2023 and is currently finishing a prequel to that story. She spends her off-season with her husband and three grown children in the Capital District of New York where she despairs over the fact that she cannot turn her attic into a garret but consoles herself by tending to her chickens and walking the dogs. The Thousand Islands Poetry Journal is her newest writing project
Editor's Note: If readers have been paying attention, they will recognize that poetry holds a special place . . . Be sure to review many of the poems published in the past on our online pages. We look forward to reviewing Heidi's publication when it is published next year.
