Checking into Facebook usually provides some smiles but the one that gave us the biggest smile was found on December 15, 2025 and posted by Michelle Gloumeau.

Coconutz, Costa Rica

Paul Cashman proudly points to the Gananoque Ontario licence!

A quick note to Michelle gave us the whole story:

In our little Town of Gananoque, you just don’t go through without stopping at Robeson’s General Store. For the past five years we have been spending winters in Costa Rica. We frequent a bar/restaurant called Coconutz. It is filled with licence plates from all over the world.

We often say we should get one from Gananoque. This year we had popped into Robesons to grab one and Paul mentioned that we were getting it to have put up in the bar in Costa Rica.

Well, they were thrilled and gave us one to put up. I posted it on the Gananoque page and got OVER 400 likes and comments!! We have such a proud little Town, and we are now represented in Costa Rica!!!!

Rock on Gananoque and Thank You to Robesons General Store!!!"

Michelle Gloumeau lives in Gananoque when not in Costa Rica. She is a cook at Kingston's River Mill Gastro Pub. She says she does the breakfasts for the B&B, food prep for the pub, and often prepares many of their desserts. In the summer, she loves to paddle board. She also admits experimenting with flavours, and food combinations is her passion.

Editor's note: So happy to meet Michelle. She made me smile again when she said she was in Nicaragua this week, and her cell phone had good reception. She was so pleased that a friend was calling to ask for cooking advice! She says life must be good when that happens!
