From the Editor, June 2025

Looking forward to summer 2025? Me too! Some days, I think that summer has arrived and then it gets cold and rainy – but never mind, the rain has raised the water levels. Not only that, but each community has exciting events planned over the summer, so stay tuned.

When TI Life was published on June 14, I stated that this guy was a beaver... as John Street, from Bostwick Island, shared a photo of two of his neighbours... This one I mistakenly called a beaver, it is a mink...
However, this is Mr. Beaver that John captured a photo of too... so there you have it - one mink, and one beaver . . . all swimming toward Sagastaweka Island. (Written on June 15, 2025)

Tall Ships Visits

We lead off with the Tall ships coming to Brockville from June 20 – 22.

Join us at the Tall Ships Festival. Canadian TV station created this YouTube from their news program.

Ready made orchestra

No need to turn on the radio if you live in the Thousand Islands. Nancy Friot used her app to record the spring birds and she shared her lists with us. Do you use a special App to help identify plants, animals, etc? If so, please tell us about it.

Growing our TI Life community

Subscribe link is at the bottom on every page on TI Life. Ask a friend to join!

Right now, we have over 5,500 subscribers to Thousandislandslife.com. That simply means more than 5,500 islanders have hit the subscribe button at the bottom of each article. They have shared their email, so on the 14th of each month, they receive an email notification saying that the new issue is now online. The TI Life Team would like to grow that number to 6,000 and beyond. Will you help? Just sign up, if you haven’t already done so. And even better, get another friend or neighbour to sign up too. It costs $0 in Canadian or US funds. Imagine that!

Don't you agree that Bruce Tusler. Chippewa Bay, gave us the perfect "screen shot" of the year!

This month's issue

This issue was a delight to do as there should be something for every reader to enjoy. For me there was both joy in remembering Capt. Brian Johnson but great sadness that he has gone. As I went back over the years I saw in the June 2009 issue, when I introduced Brian, I had suggested that the July 2009 issue would be:

. . . a "Lite" version as many readers are on boats, in tents or at a cottage without high-speed internet.

Thank goodness those days are over and you can read TI Life on your cell phone anytime.

This is the summer to attend a Half Moon Bay Sunday service. Visit www.halfmoonbay.site, or www.facebook.com/HMB1000 for details.
