Metal Artwork Installation On Display at Potsdam Public Library
Potsdam Public Library is proud to announce the unveiling of a striking new metal artwork installation, now on display in the library’s main lobby. The work, which is on loan from Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (TAUNY), promises to captivate visitors with its intricate design, adding a vibrant new layer to the library’s ambience and community offerings.
Created by James Gonzalez, a celebrated figure in the local art scene, the installation explores scenes of nature, animalistic, folk and arabesque inspired motifs.
“My interest in making is accessibility, I am not so interested in a clearly coherent story being told so much as an opening being made for you to start to spin a tale in your own head. I am not worried so much about making sense, making something profound, sometimes it's enough to try to make something to add just a grain of beauty to the world.”
The piece stands as a testament to both the artist’s creative vision and the collaboration between local artists and public facing institutions like the Potsdam Public Library and TAUNY. You can see a variation of one of his lamps at The TAUNY Center in Canton.
