2025 Regional Dive Symposium
The Clayton Diving Club is pleased to announce the 2025 Regional Dive Symposium. Please mark your calendars and join us for a day of exploring the local diving community. The event will be held at the Clayton (NY) Municipal Offices, 425 Mary Street, Clayton, NY on Saturday, April 5, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Admission is free!
The symposium will feature the following presentations:
-“History of the Clayton Diving Club” by Skip Couch
Skip is a founding member of the 1967 Clayton Diving Club and author and co-author of several shipwreck books.
--“The Designation of the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary” by Katie Malinowski & Dr. Ben Loset
Katie Malinowski was the vice chair of the proposed Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council and Ben is a maritime archaeologist with NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries. :
--“Exploring the Freighter Wrecks of the St. Lawrence River” by James Sears:
James Sears is a 45 years scuba diver and current President of the New York State Divers Association. He will tell the story of several large freighters wrecked in the Thousand Islands.
In addition to the presentations, there will be a gear and information exchange. Dive shops, divers and charter boats will set up displays of gear and information. Tables can be reserved by calling or texting Ken Kozin at 315-286-4352.
